Wise words to live by... I feel as though "success" has become the modern equivalent of what we used to know as "happiness". We grow up feeling that success and happiness are one in the same, but if the equation is so seemingly simple, why isn't every "successful" person happy? With everything coming to the surface during these times of social, economic, & political reform, it seems more important than ever to touch on what truly matters at the end of the day... At the end of a life on Earth. I began 2020 with a mindset focused on spiritual growth and connecting to the here and now in an attempt to not get swept away by the anxieties of the past and future. I chased the idea of "success" throughout 90% of my 20s, attaining a masters degree in counseling, getting married, buying a home, & becoming pregnant. I basically checked off every proverbial box that we feel we should reach in order to be deemed "worthy". All of that happened and yet I never once felt complete or at peace because as soon as I graduated, the fear & uncertainty superceded any sense of success I may have felt when I was handed my diploma after years of "waiting for my real life to begin." There will always be "the next thing" that rains down on the current achievement, which is why when we chase success in terms of meeting certain goals, once we arrive at that goal, the feeling of success is so fleeting, it's almost nonexistent. My point is not to say goals are bad because goals are definitely healthy endeavors, however, it's the JOURNEY TOWARDS THE GOAL where moments of peace, success, and happiness lie in little pockets along the way. We'll miss ALL of them if we're just focused on that end result, thus losing site of the bigger picture at large and falling into the pattern of constantly chasing something new and never being happy in the present moment. During these unprecedented times, I just wanted to share my thoughts on what I feel a successful life is. At the end of the day, being a good person, making the world a better place, will always be more fulfilling. It's time to shift our focus for a new way to LIVE... Empowered, whole, and thriving TOGETHER in the here and NOW. 🙏💞✨

As the last layers of Spring begin to merge with the prominent shades of lush Green that marks the season of Summer, we wrap up our 3rd month in Lockdown. In this chaotic time that feels like a dream I can't seem to wake up from, the polarity that exists within our society is so utterly present, I can almost taste it with every news story I read highlighting the vast differences in opinion. I had hoped our culture was finally shifting into a deeper focus on the "greater picture" that exists outside of ourselves with all the talk of "being one's best self" and self improvement goals being touted all over social media. As we find ourselves in the midst of a global pandemic, our economy is collapsing around us, and the ugliness in humanity begins to emerge with such a force, it's a travesty to behold. All I'm seeing is a constant "Me versus You" mentality, with people being completely and utterly incapable of feeling empathy for other human beings, as if one life matters more or less than another. Social Distancing is HARD, for a lot of reasons, but it's also NECESSARY in the time of a major health crisis and many people seem to be incapable of handling temporary discomfort in the here and now in order to prevent the deaths of innocent people in the Future. It's as if certain people can't look beyond current discomfort and boredom in order to do the right thing for the greater good of our entire society. We have to live what we preach! And honor what we teach our children as they grow into tiny adults... These "My Body My Choice" memes are so disheartening and stem from a place that doesn't even correlate to our current situation! Entitlement, Privilege, and a total disregard for other people is NOT what human rights are... It's what they've become... Entitlement and boredom stem from one CRUCIAL place: Ignorance. Don't choose ignorance at a time when we need to pull together and unite as a society, all striving for the greater good of humanity, the world at large, and our children's futures. Be a symbol of light, kindness, and peace.. As Ghandi wisely said, "Be the Change You Wish To See in the World." We are all linked... Let's show love, not hate...🙏💞✨

MOTD-Stay-at-Home-Edit 😅.... We're currently living in one of the worst areas of the virus outbreak in the US, so, I have to joke a little bit or I'd lose my mind 🤣. I'm a big advocate of the importance of staying home/Social Distancing for the greater good and now we're entering our 3rd month on lock-down in NJ.. The meme I can identify with most is the Groundhog Day reference, "Another Day of Quarantine!" as each day literally blends into the next, weekends are nonexistent and I literally never have a clue what day of the week it even is, until I double check 😂. So, my days consist of home-schooling Gavin and keeping my sanity by focusing on things that truly bring me those glorious snippets of joy: Reading, Journaling, exercising, meditation, backyard yoga, learning new things, writing, & simple, no fuss makeup that's quick, but still leaves room for creativity! Most days, it makes me feel good to have the essentials covered: a light dusting of mineral foundation/or tinted mattifying powder, blush, & tinted lip balm. Soft, natural, glowy "no-makeup makeup" is where it's at these days so I still feel put together.
