Hello, beautiful souls! Today I’m so excited to share my favorite Natural Perfumes for Fall as well as my most nostalgic perfumes, because for me, Fall and these upcoming months are ALL about re-creating that feeling of nostalgia that serves as a reminder of what we cherish most in our lives. It’s time to get COZY!!
The transition is upon us… I can feel the shift in the air as we move into a new & my very favorite season: Fall! Fall is a wonderful time for reflection, as we come closer and closer to the end of yet another year. And what a year 2020 has been so far! I’ve been clinging to feelings of nostalgia as a life-line throughout the pandemic by truly appreciating the little things that bring me joy. When we feel overwhelmed, it’s so helpful to zone in on aspects that we can control and honor those little moments of bliss we feel when applying our favorite perfume, for example!
I feel the most nostalgic during this time of year, because I absolutely love these upcoming four months: September through December. I love all of the Fall activities that remind us to celebrate the earth and all that it does for us. The air is crisp enough to actually enjoy spending time outside, for going hiking in the woods, or taking long walks wherever you are or can be, and for getting ready for the Holiday season (and all the fun Holiday releases from indie brands! π).
Fall is when I reach for my beloved spicy, cozy, warm scents that wrap around me like a warm embrace or my favorite blanket on a cool day. A while back on Instagram, my friend, @lydiadeliria (you can also check out her blog at greenisthenewblack.me) , and I did a #naturalperfumechallenge and I feel that a lot of people missed those posts. So, I’m going to share some of them here because I really enjoyed writing about the various topics we chose and I feel compelled to share it with you all!
I absolutely love perfume and the best part about using non-toxic, natural perfume, in particular, is that they serve multiple benefits as well as smell lovely! Our olfactory sense, aka, the ability to smell, has the power to uplift our spirits, transport us back in time to a place of nostalgic memories that a particular scent reminds us of. Natural perfumes have aromatherapy benefits that can ground us, ease anxiety, lift the veil of depression, and the list goes on and on!

β¨π₯Natural Perfumes for Fallπ₯β¨
Each season brings its own “feeling” and our sense of smell is one of the quickest ways to evoke these feelings in space & time. I know I may have some repeats (in terms of brand and/or scent) but these are what I’ve been truly using & loving! πΉThe first four are from my FAVORITE online apothecary π , Twinkle Apothecary, and these are my top Twinkle scents for Fall/Winter or any earthy fragrance lover. I’m also subscribed to the owner, Stefanie’s, unique Perfume Junkie Club, which releases a new fragrance each month and they’ve been themed according to time of year, which I have been LOVING! I’ll quickly give some honorable mentions for Fall here:
Amber Spice: This was first released as a solid perfume for Perfume Junkie Subscribers, which you can buy for $25 under the Perfume Junkie Scents for 2019 (enter in search bar on her website). Now, Stefanie also offers the 5ml Spray seasonally for a very short time, which I highly recommend! Amber Spice is a blend of sweet, earthy, grounding amber, with spicey notes of clove, sweet orange, and a hint of patchouli. It’s beautiful and is the essence of Fall with added aromatherapy benefits!
Lavender Latte: This was the first release for Perfume Junkie and it’s a very unique blend of lavender & coffee sweetened up with tonka bean, vanilla, and basalm of peru. If you love lavender like I do, this one is definitely worth checking out! I particularly love the soft drydown.
Basic Witch: This is the final Perfume Junkie pick for Fall, released in 2019! Basic Witch added Fall notes to the blend Basic from Twinkle’s permanent line of perfumes. Basic Witch has notes of vanilla, lavender, lemon, orange, mandarin, Clove, cardamom & tabacco, which makes this blend the sweetest of the Fall Lineup from Twinkle. If you like vanilla scents, this one is a great spicey fall addition to your collection!
Petiller is “to twinkle” in French and it’s funny because this was my least favorite Twinkle scent at first and now I LOVE IT & literally use it every single day because my tastes seem to have evolved over time. I’ve formed an appreciation for a wider array of scents β¨ and Petiller is a gorgeous & unexpected combo of warm rose, sandalwood, amber, & patchouli that is bold, empowering, and incredibly grounding at the same time. “Modern hippie” is another way to look at it, but I also get a lot of images of romance novels and free-spirited, creative women from a different time. I love the spray version, but the roll-on is particularly beautiful as it mingles with my body chemistry!
πBeau Spice is definitely a must for the cooler weather & the holidays with a sumptuous & evocative blend of clove, sandalwood, amber, & patchouli π. I particularly love pairing this earthy, spicy, grounding blend with vanilla, more amber notes, or Smudge Snow for a Holiday blend (with oodles of aromatherapy benefits!). **Beau Spice is now a retired scent, but you CAN still purchase it under the “Retired Scents” section.**
πCardigan is such a great name for this scent & is without a doubt, one of my all-time favorites! Cardigan is literally Fall encapsulated in a perfume! Whenever I need to feel comforted, I immediately reach for some Cardigan. It evokes that feeling of comfort from a warm embrace, the simple things in life that bring you joy, and the robust scents of fall that you can take with you and revisit whenever you need to relax. This is another blend that pairs beautifully with vanilla! Cardigan is a perfect Fall blend of cinnamon, smoked cedarwood, coffee, amber, & vanilla. I love, love, love spicey scents with clove & cinnamon! It adds that dreamy quality…π

Next up, we have some beautiful, artisanal 100% natural, botanical based perfume blends from Good Medicine! I was SO excited when they initially released a couple of years ago and they do not disappoint! These blends use only plant-based essential oils, plant-derived absolutes, and resins in each unique blend. I love that they offer both trial sizes and full sizes in spray form, so you can get a good sense of the scent without investing too much.
The small deluxe sample sizes (shown here) provide 200 sprays and are perfect for keeping in your purse for touch ups throughout the day!
Each blend has a different amount of staying power, I’ve found.
Moon Shadow: is a rose fragrance that is blended with Sandalwood as well as a hint of cinnamon and clove to ground the floral notes into a beautiful musky dry-down. Moon Shadow lasts about 3 hours on me, but leaves a subtle, lingering scent when sprayed on clothes or hair.
Dream Catcher: is a unisex spicey blend that reminds me of incense with notes of frankincense, amber, and myrrh. I’ve come to fall head over heals for Amber notes because it’s such a grounding, calming scent. Each brand has their own take on amber’s woody, sweet, musky, earthy scent and I love exploring the different possibilities!
Star-Crossed: This is my newest and current favorite scent from Good Medicine! It’s definitely perfect for Fall and the cooler months, as well as any time of year if you prefer earthy blends! Notes of: sweet orange, tangerine, jasmine, frankincense, amber, myrrh, clove, basalm of peru, and vetiver make up this truly unique scent! Star-crossed makes me think of great love stories from historical fiction novels set in different time periods. This is a blend that is time-less and adds dimension to the grounding notes in Dream Catcher.
Most Nostalgic Perfume Favorites

Get ready to embark on a journey of the senses like no other! These are hands down, the most complex, intricate, and ingeniously crafted natural perfumes I’ve experienced to date. There are many brands that claim to use all natural ingredients, but the experience is just not the same. In the instance of this indie, one-woman mastermind, I feel and smell every single nuance of each and every carefully selected note of absolutes, resins, essential oils, & plant extracts (many of which the owner creates herself in her own home gardens in beautiful Vermont π). I just have so much respect for Abby and her truly exceptional Botanical perfumes.
With every order, she wraps each item in a box full of dried, hand picked flowers/stems, and handwrites a note as well as a little drawing inspired by nature. Now this is what #shoppingsmall is all about! This is the kind of care, attention to detail, and one-of-a-kind, truly special experience along with the one-of-a-kind blend of perfume that only a small business owner can engender with a customer.
πΏI chose many blends from her Fairy Tale collection (we must be soul sisters on that levelπ!) as I’ve adored fairy tales ππ°π π since I was a child and still collect rare collections to this day! Fairy tales have been one of my fondest memories and greatest joys growing up, throughout all of life’s phases, and to have a line of perfume that brings me back to these lovely moments in time, is truly nostalgic beyond measure πβ¨.
I adore Sleeping Beauty, Rapunzel, Snow White, & Rose Red & have slowly built my collection of the small 5ml bottles. The scent of these lovely oils linger pretty well when applied just a tiny bit in my hair!! Sleeping Beauty (a rich, sultry blend of immortelle, honeycomb, patchouli, musk, vanilla pods, & a hint of citrus) is one of the LONGEST lasting natural perfumes I’ve ever experienced to date! The scent really lingers on my clothes, as well as my skin.
Sleeping Beauty from Wild Veil (found on Etsy). Sleeping Beauty is such a complex and truly unique scent that I had to include it for Fall & Winter, as well as all year round, but mainly because I associate Fall/Winter with Nostalgia so, I had to include at least one Wild Veil perfume! Sleeping Beauty, in particular, is a burst of immortelle mingling with honeycomb, smoked vanilla pods, earthy, deep, patchouli, basil, musk, & Ylang Ylang (to name a few notes) that just wraps around my very core…. It pairs so well with every other scent I mentioned, too! π
Rapunzel is my favorite, as it is a gorgeous and truly unique, sensual blend with the most prominent notes being jasmine, sandalwood, & hints of spice with a honeyed, warming undertone. The Jasmine is perfectly balanced and grounded with earthy Sandalwood that makes this floral so intricate and is a story all on its own. It’s both feminine & mysterious without being TOO different or too unique. I know some people like more traditional perfume scents, which is definitely not me, but if you don’t want to explore too much outside the box, you may be pleasantly surprised by Rapunzel’s sophisticated, other-worldly beauty. Snow White is another option that is more floral with creamy, coconut & just a hint of spice to make it alluring and unique. Rose Red is a blend of rose, mulling spices, & musk.
The four scents that I’ve tried from the Fairy Tale collection really do capture the feeling that I experience from the wonder and possibility captured in each detail of a fairy tale, in worlds beyond the scope of our imagination, which delights the senses & brings back the joy of youth. That’s what natural perfume does for me! πβ¨
The only thing I wish is that there was an option for a Spray style perfume as well as an oil-based perfume. I’ve grown really fond of my Spray perfumes from Twinkle Apothecary because I can spritz the scent on my clothes, in my hair, on my scarves, etc, without worrying about oil stains. But, I’m sure if Abby felt there was a way to offer this option, she would. For now, she offers her oil based or solid perfume blends and you can check out her lovely descriptions on Etsy!
