Ahhh, edit 05 is such an intriguing scent that makes me think of so many things that make me feel nostalgic: living in a different time, period pieces, love, floral bliss, the power of flowers (and flower essences!), & creamy, powdery, musky warmth like Earl Gray Tea on a Spring Afternoon. I can think of so many scenes and I could go on and onβ¦ But, alas, that would defeat the purpose of this new series I’m doing. Short reviews of Botanical-based perfume with the added benefits of aromatherapy!

Here’s my take on the newest scent I picked up at Twinkle Apothecary online! Edit 05 is part of the owner, Stefanie’s Asterisk collection, which is her most complex scents that she has available that use more rare and unique combinations for the true lover of natural perfume! Also for the lover of conventional perfume, as I have a sample of edit 03, which is a dupe for Chanel #5 (before the blend became totally chemical derived, it was made using all essential oils and plant extracts)! The other options are all truly unique and bring you on a journey of the senses. β¨You can shop through this link HERE to save $5 off your first Twinkle Order!β¨
My Impression:
Edit 05β¦ Is like something straight out of a 19th century Gothic, romance novel with its curling, powdery dry-down that mingles with the depth of subtly-spiced Bulgarian & Morrocan Rose at the heart of it all. It starts off ever so slightly creamy with Almond & lemon notes. I have been searching for a perfume with Almond after Pacifica discontinued their Mexican Cocoa perfume, which was really just a creamy Almond blend with hints of cinnamon, cocoa & vanilla that I loved to use during the cooler months or any time I was feeling down and in need of some nostalgic comfort. Edit 05 is a very different fragrance, overall, than the aforementioned discontinued scent (I’d love to smell Stefanie’s take on duping that one! Or something similar down the road! ππ). Edit 05 is very grown up, confident, yet classic, & demure all at the same time. It keeps you guessing while you take a trip into the past where time moved a bit slower and people really did stop to smell the flowers, to take in all of the beauty that surrounds us.
Romantic & vintage-like a portal through a time machine with Almond, rose & sweet florals (carnation & Ylang Ylang), hints of spice (Nutmeg & cardamom), powder, tonka bean, & soft, soft woods (orris root, vetiver & tabacco).
Edit 05 brings out the romantic idealist in meβ¦ And gives the word “vintage” a whole new meaning. 1920’s, the jazz Era meets English Rose. It’s definitely a, π for me! And I would consider it a great scent for any time of year. π
