After the long, hot days of summer, a part of me always yearns for the chilled, quiet days of winter…. Then the cracked, peeling dry skin hits and I wonder what was I thinking?? But, I’ve finally found my holy grail (HG) products that have literally saved my skin and long gone are the days of any signs of dryness!
I’m so happy to share with you my Natural Winter Skin Essentials that will include my favorite body butter, lip balm, lip treatment, eye balm, and skin-care oil. A lot of times people struggle to find affordable, natural alternatives to their favorite conventional go-to products for dry skin issues. I hope this post will make the search much easier for you!
Hemp Seed Oil:
Hemp Seed Oil is simply ah-maaaz-ing. First of all, I would like to note that there is virtually NO THC in hemp seed oil. So, rest assured, you will not get arrested if you purchase hemp seed oil or travel with hemp seed oil.
I recently found a lot of research on the benefits of Hemp Seed Oil as the ideal facial oil to use for acne-prone, oily skin as well as an all-over body oil to seal in moisture levels, and as a natural cure for eczema and psoriasis. I will be posting an entire blog dedicated to which oils are best for different skin types, however, Hemp Seed Oil is one of the few universal oils that’s good for every skin type because of it’s high nutrient and antioxidant content.
This oil is great for skin dryness because of its anti-inflammatory properties as well as its ability to drastically reduce the dreaded itchiness of dry skin. This is something I literally noticed right away after rubbing the oil into my skin that was red, peeling, bumpy, and horribly itchy around the back of my hands and arms. I’ve also been getting eczema for the first time in my life the past two winters and hemp seed oil and the body butter I mention next are the only things that have cured the blotchy rash-like marks that were appearing on my arms and legs. Hemp seed oil also works wonders for the ageing process, as skin dryness and inflammation are enemies to ageing skin.
It’s important to get organic, cold-processed, and unrefined hemp seed oil. I found the best price on Amazon (not the brand shown above, but the one shown above is still a good deal).
I personally use hemp seed oil to remove makeup, wash my face doing the Oil Cleansing Method, and as a face and body moisturizer. I use the big bottle for my body and to cleanse my face. I bought a set of 1oz glass dropper bottles from Amazon and fill one of those to use for my face as a moisturizer so I can control the amount of drops I use depending on day or night time use. My skin tone has evened out, it’s helping keep my acne at bay, and I can feel it de-clogging my skin as I massage it in at night. It’s also the best makeup remover I’ve ever used and it coats my eyelashes as I take my eye makeup off, making them healthier and stronger as I sleep!
I’ve tried many, many different oils and I cannot recommend hemp seed oil enough. You can also add it into your current facial and body moisturizer to amp up the moisture levels even more! It’s such a great, multi-purpose oil.
Lavanila The Healthy Body Butter in Vanilla Lemon:
Lavanilla is a cruelty-free, all natural brand that can be found at lavanila.com, QVC.com or Sephora.com. Lavanila sells natural fragrances in different variations of vanilla, which I love, but that’s another blog post!
I decided to give this Lavanila body butter a try because I was desperate to find something to alleviate my dry skin around my hands and I needed something that soaked right in so I can use it throughout the day without creating a slip-n-slide effect on everything I touched. This is hands down the best body butter I’ve ever found! It retails for $19.00 and it is worth every single penny because a little goes a very long way, it sinks right into the skin and immediately alleviates itching and that tight feeling that can happen when skin gets to a certain level of overall dryness. It also smells very pleasantly of a soft vanilla lemon scent derived from madagascar vanilla and essential oils (Other scents and a fragrance-free option is available, as well). This body butter also has an amazing ingredient list loaded with good-for-you ingredients that are amazing for your overall health. This is the perfect body butter for all year round since it does sink right in, which means it can be used morning and night and throughout the hot summer months.

Red Apple Lipstick Rallye Balm:
Rallye Balm by Red Apple Lipstick is a lip treatment that is gluten-free and has a very high vitamin E content, which coats dry, chapped lips like nothing else. No matter how much water I drink or how healthy I eat, my lips are always on the verge of being dry if I don’t apply a lip balm every single night before bed and religiously wear moisturizing lip products throughout the day. Luckily, by switching over to natural products, you’ll find that most natural lip products are more moisturizing than their conventional counterparts. This is due to the fact that conventional lip products are loaded with “filler” ingredients that are cheap and extend shelf life, which is bad for the person buying it, but profitable for the company. Truly natural lip products are filled with oils, butters, antioxidants, and naturally healing ingredients.
Rallye Balm can be applied as a basic lip balm and adds a nice shine to my lips when I wear it alone. It can also be applied under any lipstick or lip gloss. It can also be used as a cuticle balm, an eye balm, or applied on any area of the body that is particularly dry. (I would stick to using hemp seed oil for that, though, since this product is on the pricy side).
Rallye Balm retails for $15 and can be found at redapplelipstick.com
It’s encased in a sleek black lipstick tube that regular Red Apple Lipsticks come in.
Ingredients:
(net wt. .16 oz/4.5g)
Ricinus Communis (Castor) Seed Oil, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea Butter), Euphorbia Cerifera (Candelilla) Wax, Vitamin E from a natural and gluten free source, Aloe Barbadensis
Silk Naturals Organic Lip Balm:
There will always be a soft spot in my heart for Silk Naturals. They’re the first company I found when I was in the process of switching over to using natural makeup and skincare. I’ve been buying their products for 10 years now and I’m so happy to see how much the company has grown as a whole. Silk Naturals offers the most affordable, high quality natural products I’ve ever come across. Their lip products are utter perfection and they are so budget friendly, I just want to hug Silk Naturals’ founder, Karen, every time I use one of their products. They could have jacked up their prices once they started gaining a bigger following, but they never did because they never felt it was right. They want to make sure that everyone can afford to use natural products that are good for them and are incredibly fun to use at the same time!
I’ll have many blog posts in the future dedicated to my Silk Naturals makeup collection, but for the purpose of this particular blog post, I’ll focus on their organic lip balm.
Right now I’m using Silk Naturals lip balm in the Gingerbread flavor and it’s the perfect subtle spicy scent for winter. I use this every morning, throughout the day, and at night. This is a much cheaper option if the Rallye Balm is a bit too pricey for you. Rest assured, you won’t be sacrificing quality because this lip balm works wonders on dry, chapped lips and it lasts a very long time. It quenches my lips and soothes them to the point that I never, ever get cracked lips in the corners of my mouth. Every time I stray from Silk Naturals lip products for too long, my lips start to suffer, and as soon as I start using their lippies again, my lips are so relieved!
This organic lip balm retails for $3.75 and can be found at silknaturals.com

One Love Organics Eye Balm:
I recently did an entire blog post filled with details about this amazing product. I had to include it in my list of line-ups for my HG Winter Skin Essentials because it has literally cured my eye dermatitis. This product has worked better than any other eye cream/balm/potion that I’ve ever used before. It’s healed the dry skin underneath my eyes so there’s no more crepe-iness that looks awful under makeup. It also decreased my under eye circles and plumped up the area around my fine lines so they’re less noticeable.
It retails for $49.00 and can be found at oneloveorganics.com amongst other web sites that sell luxury brand natural items, such as petitvour.com and dermstore.com. Since this product has a thick, balm consistency, it will last a very long time.

Silk Naturals is definitely the best, most affordable natural lip product company I’ve ever tried. They have so many beautiful colors and formulas, and with such affordable prices, it’s fun to try them all! I’ve got a huge collection of their lippies that I use almost daily. They make my lips feel so soft and well cared for.
They really are the best! I’m excited to dedicate a few upcoming posts just to feature their products! I’m glad you’re loving them, too!
