Oreganol P73: Nature’s Antibiotic & Other Benefits!

We’re in the heart of the dreaded flu season and reports of life threatening sickness are popping up all over the world with record breaking cases. It’s heartbreaking and terrifying at the same time. We never feel more helpless than when we’re experiencing some form of dis-ease or we’re watching a beloved family member battle illness. My family has been wiped out with two viral infections two times in a row since Christmas and it’s been rough! Renata, the sweetest Green Beauty Blogger from Dublin found at greenlifeindublin.com, (you can read her post on Natural Cold and Flu remedies here) recommended that I try a supplement called Oreganol P73, known as Nature’s Antibiotic. I quickly did a search online to see where I could purchase this product and how to get it my house as quickly as possible because we were all sick at the time and I felt like I was hanging on by a thread.

I found these gel capsules from North American Herb and Spice found on Amazon so that I could use Prime Shipping to get it to my house in two days. Brands vary tremendously in the strength of oregano oil in capsule form. This brand in particular had the strongest blend with each capsule containing 6 drops of Oreganol P73 in a base of olive oil. These capsules contain gelatin, so they are not vegan, but there are other options like this one that are liquid based that you can take by applying drops under your tongue or mixing with a liquid to drink. The liquid form also can be used topically. If you have trouble dealing with the strong taste of the liquid version, you might want to have both the Capsule version and the Liquid version for use internally and externally, respectively.

I started taking 3 gel capsules a day on a Friday and two days later, by Sunday, all of the mucus in my head had disappeared and I felt much, much better, overall. The previous viral infection I had lingered for weeks! I was on day 5 of the second infection when I started taking the Oreganol P73 supplement. When I get sick, it usually hits me hard and takes a long time to recover. I bounced back a lot faster after I started using this product, which got me super excited about researching all of the potential benefits of this amazing herb! I’m going to be trying this product long term to see how it works for IBS and migraines. I’ll post an update!

So, what is this stuff and what is it supposed to do?? I’m going to break down the research I gathered in a note-like fashion for your quick perusal. None of the information I found is from peer reviewed journal articles, which is why I decided to do a short summary of what I gathered as a whole, rather than a detailed article with references. The idea is to keep it fun and spark your curiosity with some information to bring light to your wellness journey!

Oreganol P73: Nature’s Antibiotic & Other Benefits

Oreganol P73 is praised for its healing properties and is compromised of a 73% blend of medicinal, high grade wild oreganos that is different from oregano oil found at the food store. Wild oregano is in the mint family and is a wonderful source of vitamins and minerals, while also having the added anti-microbial and anti-fungal benefits that not only target bacteria, it also attacks fungi at the source! This amazing herb has been reported to have the highest naturally occurring levels of iron, as well as one of the most abundant antioxidant profiles to boot! Antioxidants are crucial in fighting against free radical damage that causes cancer, strokes, and heart disease.

The most well known benefit of oregano oil is its ability to be even more effective at killing different strains of microorganisms and infections to prevent the spreading of the actual disease than prescription medications. Wild oregano is completely safe for both children and adults. For a child under 2 years, I wouldn’t feel comfortable giving this internally unless you have permission from your pediatrician.

Let’s get down to all of the uses and/or ailments Oreganol P73 is said to treat:

  • Preservative in food/personal care products
  • Ear infections
  • IBS
  • Diarrhea/digestive issues in general
  • Increases Metabolic rate, which assists in weight loss
  • Tooth decay
  • Sore throat
  • Breathing difficulties
  • Flu
  • Bacterial infections
  • Heavy menstruation
  • Bronchitis
  • Respiratory illnesses
  • Sinusitus
  • Migraines (I’m going to be the guinea pig on this one and I’ll report back!)

Studies report that oil of oregano treats:

  • Ecoli
  • Salmonella,
  • Proteus
  • Helicobacter pylori bacterium
  • Aspergillus and the Penicillium fungi
  • Candida albicans fungus, which causes various kinds of yeast infections
  • intestinal parasites

Oregano oil has strong anti-inflammatory properties and has been found to help:

  • inflammation and pain caused by fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS)
  • rheumatoid arthritis

Oil of oregano which is the essential oil of oregano (a concentrated steam distilled oil produced by the plant) can be used topically, as well for the same antibacterial/antimicrobial/antifungal properties!

  • Mouthwash
  • Added to Toothpaste
  • Rashes
  • Eczema
  • Acne
  • Cellulite
  • Bug bites
  • Lice
  • Athlete’s Foot
  • Jock itch
  • Ringworm

This oil is very, very potent and this should be taken into consideration when applied topically. The rule of thumb is 1 drop oregano oil to 1 ounce carrier oil, such as olive oil.

***Pregnant women should avoid oil of oregano because the oil is said to promote menstruation. “Do not use this oil if you are pregnant. If you experience an allergic reaction such as itching; swelling of the tongue, lips, or face; or difficulty breathing, discontinue the product and call your doctor. If you have diabetes, do not take wild oregano oil since it may lower your blood sugar level. Wild oregano oil may interact with and alter the effects of birth control pills, since it contains phytoestrogens (plant estrogens) such as apigenin and naringenin. Wild oregano oil may enhance the effects of anticoagulant medication.” (Disclaimer from Livestrong.com)

This is only a brief overview of the many, many amazing ways to use this incredible oil! This is meant to be food for thought to further inspire your research about this product. I’m excited to learn more about Oreganol P73 myself and to use it as needed in the future! I’ll post updates regarding my thoughts on using oil of oregano for different ailments.

Have you tried Oreganol P73? I’d love to know your thoughts and experiences!

Stay well!

Love and Light,

Julie

  1. Loved this post Julie!!! As well as the comprehensive research you did on it. So glad I got you onto a good thing, I never want to be without it, for sure. I did a post on my Top Three Natural Products a few years back, and it still remains a firm favourite for every kind of ailment. I am telling about it to everyone who listens, because I feel it is one of these natural amazing remedies that are hidden from a public eye. And I fear it is only a matter of time before it will be outlawed like it happened many times before with so many other natural products. I already witness the information on it disappearing fast from the Internet. Sad. But happy we still have it.

    1. Thank you so much for your kind words and for sharing your knowledge on this amazing supplement! We live in a scary time in a lot of ways and I can only hope that sharing information will spread overall awareness. It’s a reminder that we’re doing a valuable thing as we utilize blogging as a fun tool for education. I hope you know how much you empower and inspire your readers! Keep shining brightly, dearest Renata! 🙏💞✨
